Our Facility

To accommodate growth, Locus built its new headquarters in 1999 in the Fitchburg Center, an outstanding technology park in the Madison area. Our building, the Roth Building, was specially constructed to facilitate the development and testing of Locus' wireless products. For example, a room on the second floor is completely lined with solid copper sheets! These sheets block radio waves from a wide variety of local and distant sources such as TV and radio stations, cell phone and paging systems, and even GPS and Loran signals. Having our own copper room allows our engineers to gather very accurate test data on the equipment we engineer. Our building is easy to find-one must only look for the "antenna farm" on the roof! (We have friendly companies across the Madison area that allow us to send and receive radio signals to and from our respective roofs using Locus wireless equipment.)

In addition to designing our building to optimize wireless technology development, our facility is also designed to support our employees. Our 3-story building affords beautiful views, and employees are encouraged to get out during the day for exercise and fresh air (we have showers here if you break a sweat)! We have a terrific break room, and free coffee and soda pop for all employees throughout the workday.

Other residents within the 400-acre Fitchburg Center include Promega Corporation, Berbee Information Networks Corporation, HospiceCare, Incorporated, CUES, Bruker AXS, and the Fitchburg City Hall. Fitchburg Center is also blessed with an award-winning day care facility, WoodsHollow Children’s Center and Eagle School, a K-8 school for gifted and talented children. In the heart of Fitchburg Center is a large prairie landscape with ponds and walkways, and starting in May each year, the Fitchburg Farmer’s Market opens to the public each Thursday just right down the hill from our office.
